The Loco Rio 8k takes place in the heart of downtown Ft.
Lauderdale. The course runs through three communities; Tarpon River, Riverwalk, and Rio Vista. Throughout your 5 mile journey, you'll be surrounded by beautiful waterfront scenery, discover some of Lauderdale’s historic landmarks and pass by local staples like The Pirate Republic Bar and The Downtowner. You’re more than welcome to stop and have a Mimosa or Bloody Mary but we don’t recommend it until after the race. While running through Rio Vista make sure to say hello to the original Loco Rio’s, who will be aggressively cheering you on at Aid Stations 2 & 3. The Rio Vista neighborhood is a true gem, with homes from the early 20th Century…take it all in and enjoy a beautiful South Florida Winter morning.
Is this your first race? Perfect, we welcome all paces and you have plenty of time to prepare and train. Are you a professional runner, possibly with a 13.1 sticker on your back windshield? Even better, bring your crew. All paces are welcome.
Quick education on who we are…The Loco Rio running group originated in the neighborhood of Rio Vista and meets every Wednesday at 6:30pm in the Frances Abreu Park (9th Ave and Rio Vista Blvd).

Each week there is a different run with different mileage ranging from 2.5 miles to their flagship course of 8 miles.

This route will take you through 3 urban, scenic, and historical neighborhoods in downtown Ft.
Lauderdale.
The Kids Run will start and finish on 7th St.
just adjacent to Hardy Park Bistro.
The Kids Run is less than 1/4-mile loop.
Race Entry Requirements - All Participants must register online or complete and sign a registration form.
- A parent or legal guardian must sign for participants under 18 years of age on race day.
- Participants in the 8k must complete the course in 3 hours - On-line registration closes at Midnight, EST, February 21, 2017 - T-Shirts will not be guranteed after February 15th, 2017.
- Event registration will close without notice when the established registration count for this event is reached.
Refund Policy Once your registration has been accepted, all fees are non-refundable and non-transferrable Parking and Transportation - There are 3 lots on 7th Street between Andrews Ave and 3rd Ave.
- There is limited but accessible parking at Florence Hardy Park - We highly encourage participants to review downtown parking before leaving your vehicle.
- Some areas will not allow you to park your car in their lot without a permit.
We are not liable or responsible for your vehicle.
- There is public Transportation that picks up and drops off at the corner of 7th St.
and Andrews.
