This is the highest 5K & 10K race in Georgia! In the past 3 races a bear has been spotted along the route! All proceeds help students attending the last K-12 public school in Georgia! The Run Above the Clouds is indeed unique
The Run Above the Clouds is a 5k & 10K road race over a beautifully scenic but challenging out and back course through the north Georgia mountains
The race is held in conjunction with the Indian Summer Festival which is held on the first full weekend in October and will again have a companion 1 mile fun run which is over a generally flat route
The mission of the Run Above the Clouds is to provide scholarships and other assistance to Woody Gap School students and graduates (up to 4 years) with the proceeds of the 5 K & 10k road race and 1 Mile fun run, while administering the event so as to make it pleasant and fulfuliining for the participants.Event details and scheduleLocationThe event will start and finish at the Suches community Center across from the Woody Gap School on State Highway 60 in Suches Georgia which is 16 miles north of Dahlonega
Start times are 9:00 (10K) to 9:10 (1 Mi.) A.M
Saturday 10K Road Race: • Fees will be kept as low as possible, considering the hope of covering operating costs.• All runners receive a high quality Long Sleeved T-Shirt.• Awards will be given 2 deep, male and female, in age groups; 19 & under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, & 70+1 Mile Fun Run: • Fee is $10.00
• Runners receive a short sleeved T-Shirt
